About This Project

This travel film documents a seven-day journey deep into the jungles of West Sumatra, Indonesia — to live alongside the Mentawai Tribe, one of the last remaining forest tribes on earth. Guided by Penkai, a Mentawai himself, the film follows the path to Aman Nokkok and his family — who welcomed us into their home and their lives for an entire week. Rather than presenting the Mentawai as a spectacle, the film captures something more honest — their daily rituals, their belief system, and the quiet dignity of a people who have chosen to remain who they are. From the making of traditional loincloths to poisoned arrows and the hunt — documenting a culture that is rarely seen by outsiders. At its core, this film is about connection. The kind that doesn't need a shared language. One of the most unique and personal experiences of my life — and one I will never forget.
